Traditionally, church bells have always played a significant role in the community. They call the community of faith to prayer, they indicate the passage of time, and they mark celebrations as well as tragedies. We cannot think of a more appropriate manner and method to celebrate the bicentennial of Plain Township than to ring in its birthday.
On March 16, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. nine churches within the township rung in Plain Township's birthday with their bells. St. Michaels Church, Trinity United Church of Christ, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Faith Family Church, First Church of the Nazarene, Simpson United Methodist Church, St. Jacobs Community Church of Cairo, and the Cathedral of Life participated on this morning.
