On Saturday October 10, 2009 the Plain Township Fire & Rescue Department in conjunction with Plain Township’s Bicentennial held the Fire Department Awareness Day. This event also marked the observance of Fire Prevention Week.
Over 500 attendees had an opportunity to observe static displays of Fire and EMS equipment. Hands on participation included a Thermal Imager demonstration in a smoke filled room in the Training Building, operation of a fire hose and climbing a ladder.
Attendees saw a timed protective equipment donning competition amongst 5 Plain Township Fire Department members and the annual Plain Township Fire Department Skill Assessment. A very popular segment of the day was the landing and take off of the Aeromedical helicopter which was accessible to all while it was on the ground.
Photo opportunities were the premium of the day. Congratulations to the Smoke Alarm and Fire Extinguisher winners.
We wish to thank all sponsors, attendees and Fire Department Personnel for making this a successful and educational event.
