| Schneider Street Park |
 |
|
The property on Schneider Street purchased in 2006 is now being developed into our third Plain Township Park!
Schneider Community Park will be completed in phases, since the Board of Trustees has decided to use estate taxes to develop the park instead of a new tax levy.
Phase I construction will include a parking lot that will accommodate a sled-riding hill, park shelter and dog park.
This phase also includes an ADA playground which will allow children and adults to access the playground with any type of mobility device, which Plain Township is able to purchase thanks to a $59,320 grant received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Already in place is a picnic shelter donated by the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, Washington Council.
The organization spent $32,281 installing the pavilion and donating picnic tables.
The shelter is currently placed on the east side of a hill that rises at the park's center - a focal point for the park.
Three to four acres in the southeast corner will be used for the dog park, this park's niche offering for residents.
Schneider Community Park will be the multigenerational park of Plain Township, with many features that make the park enjoyable for people of all ages.

Although it may still be a few more years before the large park's western portion is fully developed, plans call for a lake, an amphitheater, more parking, and other amenities.
Until this portion can be developed, we are considering using the par course equipment that has been at Alpine Park and placing it around hiking trails throughout this area.
This would create a course that combines hiking with calisthenics.
We are also working with Stark Parks to tie in with the county-wide bike and hike trail system.
This cooperative effort with Stark Parks will bring a crushed limestone loop trail to Schneider Park with two places to go beyond the loop trail and enter the county-wide trail system.

In 2010, the Plain Township Trustees will be including a four-acre dog park as part of Phase I construction at Schneider Community Park.
The dog park will be on the east side of the park, along a group of trees that will provide shade to park goers and their dogs.
This free-access dog park will be open year-round and have a 1.5-acre section for small dogs (under 30 lbs), and a 2.5-acre area for larger dogs (over 30 lbs).

 |
|
Lush green grass will give your pet the perfect playground to exercise, play with other dogs or just rest in the shade.
These areas will be maintained by Township Maintenance staff on a daily basis and disposal bags will be provided to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pet.
Plain Township will be continuing the It's My Doodie Pledge program, which will give dog owners an opportunity to have their pet's picture displayed on the Township website in the It's My Doodie Gallery.
|
 |
|
In addition, Plain Township has included in their future plans a solution for overheated or muddy dogs.
As you exit the dog park, you will have the option to clean Rex by using one of the six dog showers available in the spring, summer and fall.
|
 |
|
The Plain Township Trustees cannot wait to share this new and exciting dog park with the public.
